Evaluation of:
Introductory Project
As my First project I was prompted to create an advertisement for ‘Tunnocks Caramel Wafers’. This was to be done using a pre created setting etc.  So practically from the ground up.
The first thing to do was to think of a suitable setting that would prosper as an advertisement to the intended audience. Of course this would require some thought and research. It became apparent after some time that my group where to choose a young audience of teenagers/students. This was a rather obvious choice as we were advertising cheap biscuits. Generally teenagers/students would prefer cheaper snacks in reflection to the more expensive alternatives and of course it is apparent that there is a plausible market for this product. I personally was happy with the decision of audience as it was easy to relate to.
So after choosing the intended audience it was time to go about creating the setting or rather ‘story’ behind our product. After few ideas the decision made was create a humour photo shoot of myself topless wearing a necklace featuring the product. Humour seems to be the best way to create an advertisement to the intended audience when looking at other advertisements. Clearly, the first thing to do was to take the photographs, but we needed to choose a location to take the photo, it was decided among the group to take it on a dense trafficked roundabout just to further extend the humour but also to create a sense of ‘no care’ much like the punk rock stereo type in today’s society so to make the product cool if you will.
After the decisions of what to be featured in the image, I produced a flat plan depicting what the image would basically look like.  This consisted of a pencil sketch followed by a description of what was going on and what props where used etc.
So after this was finished my group and I set out the take the photograph at the location. All seemed to go to plan throughout except the primary prop, the necklace that had the product attached broke, fortunately this was quickly repaired and we continued with the shoot as planned.
Light wasn’t a large factor that beheld us as we are in a shaded area so as long as we I was visible it was satisfactory. Practically the basic shot we wanted, happened as we only needed the actual person (and his items) as later in the project he was to cropped out of the rest of the image using Adobe Photoshop.
Now that the images were taken, we took various ones to just to make sure it was a success and to experiment with the results. I was happy with the results as we had a perfect environment to work with and no major mishaps happened.
So, now that the images were taken they were uploaded onto a computer and shared within our group set forth to our final designs. There was the task of removing the images that we weren’t going to use and to keep the ones we were, each member of the group used a different image so we had a didn’t overview of which was best.
For my design I opened my image onto Adobe Photoshop to begin modifying it. First I cropped out the parameter of the models body using the magnetic lasso tool and cut it. Then by creating a new A4 Portrait page I inserted in the cropped image in and res sized plus positioned it.
Next, I created some text depicting our slogan but I wanted to make it stand out to emphasise the message. I used a bold font and used the stroke effect. The colours that I used consisted of the products signature colours to relate and for the audience to relate also these are outstanding colours in themselves. To make the text look more attractive and eye catching I used the Bevel and Emboss tool that emphasised it dramatically making it really stand out quite well and look professional.
I was planning to have this as my final image, but I realised there was a lot of white space making the advertisement look empty. To solve this problem was a simple solution at hand. Using Google image search I copied an image of the product onto my design. I then progressed into resizing the image so that I could fit three identical images of itself in concession width ways of the image. Doing this I had three identical image across the bottom of the overall image, I simply copy and pasted them until they dominated the image and then I placed them all below everything else on the layers system, so they acted as a background.
So now my final image was completed. Overall I was happy with the design and it had kept to my original ideas so not much had changed, which just helped things to move along quicker.
The final image I believe is a success. In my opinion, it is eye catching, humorous and relevant. I think it has captured the primary points needed in the audience we wanted to project the product to.
